Blog:Neuro Wonderful- Hi! Your YouTube channel was my first resource for learning about and coming to accept my autism. After learning it was there, the autistic tumblr community has become a SI so I made a separate blog for it! Could you just post this and maybe some people can see my blog and follow me? I just want people to know and accept me in the community and to interact with more people I can relate to! Thanks!

Blog:Neuro Wonderful- I think I might have autism, but I'm not sure how to be sure. Any advise?

Check out the #actuallyautistic tag here and on twitter. If you see someone who you think is cool posting in the tag, or you see a post that’s relatable to you, follow that person or blog.

Follow many autistic people. Read their blogs. Like their facebook pages.

Give different autism-related groups and pages a try. Google is good for this. Try “your city + autistic adults” or try doing a search for “neurodiversity” or “autistic adults” on

Blog:Neuro Wonderful- If money, time, and spoons weren't an issue, what would your ideal pet be?

Anonymous asked: If money, time, and spoons weren’t an issue, what would your ideal pet be?

All of them. All of the pets ever.

In seriousness, my ideal pet family is: 1 dog, 2 cats, 1 ferret, 1 rescue bird, and room for one more, for whatever lil friend needs a foster while they wait for a forever home.

Blog:Neuro Wonderful- You mentioned watching Kiki's Delivery Service in another ask. That might be my favourite Studio Ghibli film, though I love them all – particularly Porco Rosso and The Castle of Cagliostro. What other Ghibli flims do you like, if any?

One of the funniest things my brain does is give me strong protective feelings for people who are larger, stronger, and generally more competent than I am.

Me: *is small and weak*

Friend: *is a fully mature human being, is also a foot taller than me*

Me: I will protect you.

Does this apply to fictional characters?

It especially applies to fictional characters *pulls Matt Murdock, Furiosa, and Logan into my protective embrace*

Blog:Neuro Wonderful- We're autistic, we're human, get used to it

realsocialskills:

Some dehumanizing descriptions of autism are negative. For example, some people believe that we are incapable of love, or incapable of imagination, or incapable of understanding anything of importance.

Some dehumanizing descriptions of autism are positive. For instance, some people believe that we are incapable of lying, incapable of being manipulative, and that we always say exactly what we mean.

Autism doesn’t work that way. We are fully human, for better and for worse.

Blog:Neuro Wonderful- Hi! I'm the anon who you asked about fanfic, and I'm absolutely honoured–thank you! I write Ylvis fanfic under the name Routcliffe on AO3, and I first encountered your work through Youtube when I was doing research for it. If you read fantasy and you don't mind longer works, I'm proudest of the Fortryllelse og Bakverk stories, and I don't think you need to be familiar with the source material (although it helps with some of the in-jokes). But either way, thank you so much!

Blog:Neuro Wonderful- I wanna give you a big hug if you're okay with that

Anonymous asked: I wanna give you a big hug if you’re okay with that

I am definitely (unfortunately?) not a friendly hugger. Here are some alternatives to hugs that I might appreciate, please feel free to pick any one (1):

Head pats for me, high fives for you, me gently headbutting you in the back and then running away, you bringing me something really soft to touch, us watching Kiki’s Delivery Service, cooperative cat petting.

Wow, I love soft pumpkin orange! Thanks!

Hm. Colour is so meaningful and fundamental for me that I can never pick one favourite. Right now I’m doing a lot of orangey/peachy eye makeup? I think my favorite colours are also seasonal, ‘cause it’s summer here and I’m really gravitating towards citrusty colours and fresh

That wasn't entirely the case, but they had enough patience to navigate a world that screamed at every turn that it was built for a different sort of person, and that was frankly a little more patience than it deserved.
