AN AUTISTIC teenager from Ayrshire has disappeared from a care unit sparking a desperate search for his return.

Cops are frantically trying to find Lewis Birch who was last seen by staff at the care unit in Hurlford around 9.30pm last night.

Concerns now are growing for the 16-year-old from Kilmarnock who vanished while wearing a navy top, black denim jeans and orange jacket.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8 inches in height and of medium build with dark-red hair.

Sergeant Iain Farmer of Kilmarnock Police Office said:  “Lewis has been missing before, but usually returns after a few hours.
