Dailyrecord.co.uk: Frantic search for autistic teen missing from Ayrshire care home

Concerns are growing for the whereabouts of an autistic teenager missing from a care unit in Ayrshire.

Cops of launched an extensive search in a bid to track down 16-year-old Lewis Birch, who disappeared at around 9.30pm on Thursday.

Lewis, who has autism, was last seen by staff at a care unit in Hurlford who are appealing for help to bring him home safely.

He is described as white, around 5ft 8 inches in height and of medium build with dark-red hair.

When he was last seen he was wearing a navy top, black denim jeans and wearing an orange jacket .

Sergeant Iain Farmer of Kilmarnock Police Office said: “Lewis has been missing before, but usually returns after a few hours.

“Concern for his wellbeing and safety is growing because he hasn’t been seen since Thursday night.

“Anyone with information regarding Lewis’ whereabouts is asked to contact Kilmarnock Police Office through 101 quoting reference number 3953 of Thursday 10 January 2019.”
