A comedian charged with vandalising Eurydice Dixon’s memorial has said he committed the bizarre attack to promote his anti-vaccine message.

Ms Dixon, 22, was allegedly raped and killed as she walked home from a gig through a park in Carlton North, Melbourne on 13 June.

Andrew Nolch, who believes the discredited theory that vaccines cause autism, said her death was caused by vaccines because her alleged killer was autistic.

He said he sprayed graffiti on her memorial in the park to get back at feminists he believes have used her death to promote women’s rights instead of his anti-vaccine cause.

Mr Nolch claimed feminism and mainstream media had hijacked ‘a vaccine-causing issue’ and turned it into a women’s right’s issue where ‘men are bad’.

He said he was determined to get his message across, even if it meant causing hurt.

The self-described Scientologist was arrested by police last week and charged with criminal damage, offensive behaviour and making offensive graffiti.

Mr Nolch is known to friends of Ms Dixon, herself an aspiring comedian.

Jaymes Todd, 19, has been charged in relation to the alleged murder and sexual assault.
