“At work, I have targets and pressure. Volunteering is all about giving love and support.”

Meet Catherine, who volunteers her time to our Parent to Parent service. Catherine has an eight-year-old autistic son and knows how isolating it can be looking after autistic children. She wanted to share the knowledge and experience she has gained, with other parents.

Thank you, Catherine, and all the other volunteers who answer calls and enquiries at our helplines and contact centres. You are often the first person an anxious parent gets to talk to and for that, we can’t thank you enough.

Happy Volunteers Week! We’re celebrating some of the wonderful people who give up their time, share their skills and help us support autistic people and their families.

We’d like to start by introducing you to Mike. Mike is autistic and, over the years has used a lot of our charity’s services. He feels he wants to give back and that’s why he runs an amazing music session at his local service…

Thank you Mike, and to all of the other talented people who run volunteer arts, music, cooking, sports and even Tai Chi classes with the people we support.
